Sophie, Vestas Graduate

My role

My name is Sophie and I recently started my first rotation in Group Marketing & Customer Insight located in Århus, Denmark where I am involved in shaping and implementing Vestas' Brand & Reputation strategy.

Vestas operates in a fast-paced and complex business environment. The recent shift from seller's to buyer's market as well as the increasingly interconnected nature of Vestas' stakeholders, calls for the need of a clear, powerful and aligned message and identity. It is in that sense that Brand & Reputation management is key in reaching our Triple15 aspirations and more widely, in taking Vestas to new levels of success!

My Career path

I am part of the first Graduate Team to be on a fixed-track program. What that means is that I know what and where my next two rotations will be, as they fit into an individual professional development scheme. My next rotation will be in Sales in Portland, USA, and my third rotation will be in Government Relations in Copenhagen, Denmark. The rationale behind integrating Marketing, Sales and Government Relations in my track is to gain different insights and perspectives on the drivers and players which constitute Vestas' business. This “wide angle” on the business as well as the international nature of the Graduate Program is what makes the Graduate Program so attractive to me.

My Vestas

I joined Vestas because – like many others of the “Y generation” – I wanted to contribute to something purposeful and not just work for a paycheck. It is primordial for me to believe in the importance of my work, in the difference that it makes. Vestas' know how and the values for which it stands seems to me like the perfect platform to develop myself professionally in accordance with my convictions.

My network

One of the greatest features of the Graduate Program is the global network that it enables you to create within the company. This international network is not only composed of the diverse identity of the Graduate Team you belong to, but also of the co-workers, managers and partners that you get to work and interact with throughout your rotations. This strong and global network is both an asset for you, and for Vestas in the long run!

Gabriele, Vestas Graduate

My role

My name is Gabriele and is from Italy. I joined the Graduate Programme in September 2009 as a Blades Production Engineer in Lem, Denmark. My second rotation is in Madrid in the Operations and Service Department.

My career path

I have a master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, so as you can imagine, I like to understand and master the technical side of things. Being exposed everyday in the front lines, living constantly under pressure, dealing with new challenges and striving to give my best at every moment, this is what I am looking for. The Graduate Programme is a great opportunity, since you can explore the company from different angles, you can work in different countries and functions, working with both technical and managerial tasks.

My Vestas

Vestas is an incredible company. It's a fast growing company, so the opportunities are there to be picked up if you're ambitious and eager to take on new challenges. Why the Graduate Programme? Peter Drucker, the man who invented management, used to say that the best way to predict the future is to create it. The Graduate Programme is probably a good example of this philosophy. It's a once in a lifetime possibility, why not go for it?

My network

Join Vestas and you'll realize that the world is small after all. Working with colleagues from all around the world is the rule. To grow your network means also to develop yourself, your cultural awareness and your knowledge. Training camps, which occur twice a year while in the graduate programme, are also a great chance to travel and network. They are very intense but they provide the opportunity for networking in a more relaxed atmosphere.
