Who are the CBI?
We are a not for profit organisation who's
mission it is to help create and sustain the
conditions in which businesses in the UK
can compete and prosper for the benefit of
all. We are the premier lobbying organisation
for UK business on national and international
issues.
What do the CBI do?
We work with the UK government,
international legislators, the business
community and policymakers to help UK
businesses compete effectively. Every
department of government influences the
prosperity and profitability of business, but
the impact of proposed legislation is not
necessarily fully understood by those who
devise it. The CBI is therefore of crucial
importance to the entire business community
because it can mobilise business opinion and
successfully bring influence
to bear on government.
How do we do what we do?
CBI policy is decided by our members
senior professionals from all sectors and
sizes of business are directly involved in
the policy-making process. Our network of
regional offices around the UK in Beijing,
Brussels, Washington and New Delhi provide
on-the-ground support for our members.
How can you be a part of it all?
Whether you work as a Policy Adviser
with exposure to civil servants and MP's, a
Regional Director who meets with member
companies, or, provide vital back office
support as an Administrator or a Financial
Accountant; you will be contributing to the
CBI's reputation as the premier lobbying
organisation.

The CBI employs approximately 200
permanent staff. The majority of which work
in our head office in Centre Point, London,
and the remaining in our 12 regional offices

is committed to and promotes staff training
and the development of all levels of staff.

scheme and also our Management
Development Programme. All staff are
appraised on an annual basis with reviews
taking place at regular intervals. The
