Edwards is a leading global technology
and environmental business supplying
integrated solutions for the manufacture of
semiconductors, flat panel displays, LEDs
and solar cells as well as vacuum technology
for industrial, scientific, process and R&D
applications.

We have a major focus on Asia where we have
expanded massively over the past few years.
60% of our business now comes from the
region - growing nearly 30 times in the last
15 years. We now have major manufacturing
centres in Korea, Japan and China, and remanufacturing
and service centres in 17 other
countries in the region.
We supply all 10 of the world's biggest and
best-known semiconductor manufacturers
and service them through dedicated local key
customer management teams. But we don't
just collaborate with major manufacturers
- we also have teams working with many
individual engineers and scientists to ensure
a deep understanding of the processes used in
smaller scale or specialist industries.
Our Technology
Edwards products are based on striving to
achieve excellence in manufacturing and high
levels of investment in technology, supported
by a world-class global services network.
Products include magnetically levitated turbo
pumps that operate at speed of up to 60,000
RPM, (that's a staggering 1,000 revolutions
every second); next generation dry-screw
pumps that provide low-power, intelligent
pumping in industrial environments; and
advanced abatement solutions capable of
virtually eliminating hazardous emissions
from semiconductor and flat panel
manufacturing processes.
We work closely with our customers to
understand their needs and provide bespoke
solutions that answer the specific challenges
they face. And with silicon chip technology
now relying on circuit dimensions that are
2,000 times thinner than the finest human
hair, those challenges can be demanding.
It is a measure of the success of our ongoing
multi-million pound investment in research
and development that Edwards currently
holds more than 1,400 live patents directly
related to vacuum and abatement technology.
Edwards invented the concept of the lowmaintenance,
cost-effective, commercial oilfree
‘dry' vacuum pump, while its abatement
systems prevent the emission of harmful
greenhouse gases making the Edwards'
overall carbon footprint negative*.

Our People
We have a well developed appraisal system
and ensure individuals receive regular career
reviews with their managers, discussing
future aspirations realistically and in a
planned way.
People development is about staff contributing
to the maximum and the organisation getting
best value from its people. One key part of this
is the talent review process. The Executive
Management Team meets several times a
year when potential senior line or functional
managers as well as new talents within the
Company, are identified and reviewed, so
that succession planning is managed and
structured.
