million customers. We are the UK's third
largest savings and mortgage provider.
As a mutual organisation, we are owned by
and managed for the benefit of our 15 million
members our retail savings and residential
mortgage customers rather than for
shareholders. Our core business is providing
financial services including residential
mortgage lending, general retail banking
services, personal investment products,
insurance, personal lending and offshore
deposit taking. We also engage in commercial
lending and treasury operations to generate
additional value for our members.
Our graduate talent programme
You will have ownership and accountability
for real business projects from day
one; building an in-depth knowledge
of one particular function/division, and
experiencing a different function to broaden
and complement your understanding of the
business and drive your career. Our graduate
talent programme aims to recruit our society's
future business leaders. We only hire a small
amount of graduates each year, which means
that we can work closely with them to provide
the best development, support and guidance
possible.
Training and development
Training is provided through a blend of
challenging and testing jobs and projects,
group learning, coaching and skills training
which include leadership, personal awareness
and relationship skills. We also have an
excellent mentoring approach, linked to
regular discussion, feedback and appraisal
from your manager to ensure your personal
and professional development stays on track.
A senior manager mentor will also provide
support and guidance, and your buddy' who
is a previous graduate will be there for more
informal advice. We encourage the study of
relevant professional qualifications, and as
an organisation with a Gold Champion Status
from Investors in People' you can be sure
your career development is in safe hands.
