Who are we?
The firm voted 3rd in the Sunday Times ‘100
Best Companies to Work For' 2007 and once
again the highest placed law firm in the
survey. We were the first Law firm to be
awarded the quality standard ISO 9001 and
have held the Law Society's Lexcel
accreditation since 1999. The firm is a
founder member of Pannone Law Group –
Europe's first integrated international law
group (although there is no opportunity for
trainees to work abroad).
We are a full-service law firm located in
central Manchester which continues to
undergo rapid growth. Specialist departments
serve a diverse client base which is split
almost equally between businesses and
private individuals. We pride ourselves on our
ability to work in partnership with our clients
and to offer practical and cost-effective
solutions, meeting our clients' needs. We
combine a first-class service to our clients
with a working environment that ensures
quality of life for our staff. Our placement
students regularly comment on the open and
friendly atmosphere which they find here.
Award winning firm
This year we have won many awards,
including the Financial Times annual
business award “Top 10 Entrepreneurial Law
Firms”, Legal Business awards “Most
Enterprising Law Firm of the Year”, North
West Insider Young Professionals awards
“Young Lawyer of theYear” and FirstWomen
awards where Managing Partner Joy Kingsley
won the Business (Professionals) category.
What seats will trainees do?
Their own choice. Our trainee solicitors can
choose experience in both commercial
and private client work, or decide to
take seats solely in the commercial or
private client sectors. Seats include corporate
and commercial, commercial property,
commercial litigation, regulatory, clinical
negligence, personal injury and family law.
In many of these fields we are recognised
as leading practitioners.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking to recruit 16 Trainee
Solicitors to start in September 2010. We
intend to recruit as far as possible from those
who have been on placement with us at
Easter or in Summer 2008. We welcome
diversity and encourage applications from
both law and non-law graduates. What all
our trainees have in common though are
excellent academics, common sense,
communication skills, an ability to organise
themselves and others and work as part of a
team, and a life beyond the law.
