The graduate programme

Our graduate programme is key to success and is supported by senior management throughout the organisation.

On the programme, graduates are provided with an excellent understanding of financial markets, as well as the bank's products, instruments and services. This creates a strong platform on which to build more specialised expertise. The programme takes learning one step further, incorporating practical applications through a variety of case studies, workshops and presentations. Depending on the area joined, each graduate receives comprehensive, role-specific training as well as training in soft skills. Barclays Capital also encourages people to obtain appropriate professional qualifications. And that's just the beginning.

Internships

Most internships take place for 10-12 weeks over the summer although we do have offcycle positions available, according to business needs.

The first week is spent in training, covering financial products, the Barclays Capital business model, IT, presentation skills and Bloomberg before joining the desk. Interns are expected to work on a range of projects, from live transactions and marketing projects, to research and analysis, depending on the business area. Informal training continues throughout the programme in a weekly speaker series, providing a broader knowledge of the firm and the activities of individual businesses.
