Symbian creates and licenses Symbian OS,
the market leading operating system based on
open standards for advanced mobile phones,
known as smartphones.
Symbian was founded in 1998 and its
headquarters are in London, United
Kingdom, with offices in Cambridge, United
States and Asia (Bangalore, Beijing, Seoul
and Tokyo)
User interfaces designed for Symbian OS
include Nokia's S60, NTT DoCoMo's MOAP
user interface for the FOMA™ 3G network
and UIQ, designed by UIQ Technology, a
wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Ericsson
Some of the world's brightest, most creative
and innovative people work at Symbian.
Positioned at the heart of the wireless
industry, Symbian offers exciting and
stimulating roles for those who are eager to
play an active part in the development of the
world's leading advanced mobile phone
operating system.
While working at Symbian can be technically
demanding; we think that few other
companies bring together so many diverse,
disciplined people in such an informal and
relaxed, yet highly productive environment.
Today's mobile phones are constantly
evolving, not only in look and feel but also in
ever-increasing functionality. These radical
developments in both software and hardware
are revolutionising the way we communicate
and Symbian is at the heart of this revolution.
Symbian's defining goal is to bring the power
of the Symbian OS-enabled smartphone into
the hands of everyone, by delivering an
advanced, open, standard operating system,
Symbian OS, to its licensees.
Flexible and scalable enough to be used in
the variety of mobile phones needed to meet
and exceed the wide range of user
requirements, Symbian OS enables leading
mobile phone manufacturers to bring advanced,
feature-rich and truly differentiated mobile
phones to market.
It is into this environment that we are looking
to offer positions to Graduates to add new
skills, energy and creativity to the
development team working on Symbian OS.
Symbian's culture encourages innovation,
invention and the uptake of best-of-breed
solutions. Graduates should be inspired by
cutting edge technology, a very fast
moving environment, the opportunity for
international travel and the uniqueness of
Symbian's position in this exciting
marketplace.
A graduate at Symbian will:
Work on advanced technology, integral to a
diverse array of consumer phone products
brought to market by leading brands
Play a key role in the development of one
of the most dynamic markets in the world
Our dedicated Graduate Bootcamp training
programme runs over 5 weeks and is
designed to provide graduates with the skills
required to achieve the industry recognised
qualification of Symbian OS Developer.
You'll receive an excellent overview of the
organisation and gain a greater understanding
of how your particular skills can benefit the
company. Bootcamp gives you the
opportunity to build friendships and working
relationships with fellow graduates which
will last throughout your career.
