Nomura the 30 second overview...
Nomura is a leading financial services group and the pre-eminent independent investment bank with worldwide reach. Backed by a strong balance sheet, we offer unrivalled asset raising abilities and have a proven record of delivering value for our clients.
We offer a broad range of innovative services tailored to the specific requirements of individual, institutional, corporate and government clients. In many cases our pioneering spirit creates new and differentiated solutions, but always with the reassurance that this is underpinned by a global intelligence network, knowledge and depth of experience in the financial markets.
A world-class investment bank
Based in Tokyo and with regional headquarters in London, Hong Kong and New York, we have offices in over 30 countries and employ more than 25,000 people worldwide. In October 2008 we acquired the Lehman Brothers franchise in Asia as well as its equities and investment banking businesses in Europe and the Middle East. Our combined businesses make us a leader in global investment banking.
What we look for
At Nomura our goal is to attract and develop exceptionally talented people who share our passion for individual excellence and our commitment to teamwork. We recruit graduates with a high level of academic and extracurricular achievement, who will be able to withstand the rigours of a rapidly changing, demanding but ultimately rewarding environment. Fluency in English is essential and fluency in other languages is advantageous.
We assess candidates using a range of key competencies which include problem solving / analytical skills, teamwork, leadership, communication skills, professional presence and initiative. All of these competencies are equally weighted and we look for evidence of these in the CV, cover letter and throughout the interview process. We will also need to be convinced of your interest and commitment to the financial services industry and to Nomura in particular.
What we offer
Nomura offers a range of graduate and internship programmes (10 week winter, spring and summer) in investment banking, global markets and business infrastructure.
Internships are the perfect preparation for a subsequent full time role. Nomura will extend full time offers to strong performers to return to the firm the following year. To apply for an internship position with Nomura in 2010, candidates should be available for full time employment in July 2011.
