Our Training Contract
Our trainees take on responsibility from day
one and enjoy varied and challenging work
for industry-shaping clients. If you become a
trainee with us, you will be given the chance
to excel. We run a business skills development
programme to provide you with the basic
building blocks for your future development
within the business of law. The firm is still
personal enough for our trainees to make their
mark in our friendly stimulating work place.
Trainees will spend six months in three of our
practice areas and will then have a choice of
spending their last six months in the area in
which they would like to qualify.
Trainees are encouraged to join the number of
sports teams at the firm and to attend various
social events.
Who we recruit
We recruit strong graduates capable of
developing expert legal skills and commercial
acumen. A certain level of intelligence and
common sense is a prerequisite (we look
for excellent A levels and a strong 2:1), but
more importantly we look for well-rounded
individuals who will fit in well.
Applications
Applications will be reviewed from May
onwards and successful applicants will be
invited prior to the deadline to attend one of
our Insight and Selection days.
Insight and Selection days will be held for
both law and non-law students in August
2009. The days will be organised as follows;
"exercises to assess candidates' abilities in
key areas"
a presentation about Bird & Bird given by
one of our partners
Successful candidates from the Insight and
Selection days will be invited to attend a panel
interview during the week commencing 31st
August 2009. Candidates will be informed of
the outcome during September and October
2009.
It is important to note that the Insight and
Selection day is part of the selection process.
If you are unable to attend one of the Insight
and Selection days, unfortunately you will not
be considered for interview in September.

Our firm offers 20 vacation scheme places
each year, each for a three-week period.
Remuneration is £275 per week and the
