Dechert is a fast-growing international law
firm with 1000 lawyers in offices across the
US, Europe and Asia.
Our practice areas
Our largest practice areas in London are
corporate and securities, hedge funds and
other investment funds, and finance and real
estate. We also have smaller teams practising
in areas such as litigation, intellectual
property, employment and tax.
What we are looking for
We look to recruit people who can use their
intellectual ability with common sense and
apply good judgement. We recruit people
who have the ability to communicate well
in writing and in person; and who display
confidence, motivation and drive. As our
clients come to us for advice about their
businesses, successful candidates will have
an interest in business and be able to apply
creativity when solving problems.
What we can offer you
A training contract with Dechert offers
you challenging and varied work with
early responsibility in an open, supportive
environment. No two trainees have the same
seat plan as every new seat is discussed with
our trainees, and reflects their interests and
ambitions. Training contracts start with a visit
to Philadelphia, where trainees take part in a
firm-wide induction. After the Philadelphia
induction, trainees do six seats of four months
in a seat rotation system that allows them
either to experience a wide range of areas or
to focus on the practice area which interests
them the most.
Dechert encourages trainees, lawyers and
partners to spend time doing pro bono work,
and there are plenty of sports and social
activities to get involved in.
Secondments
The highly personalised six seat rotation
system allows trainees to structure their
training contract to their interests and
aspirations, and allows ample opportunity
for secondments to Brussels, Munich, Hong
Kong or the USA.
In addition to international secondments, we
offer a secondment to the Royal Courts of
Justice. |
