Opportunities
Balfour Beatty is interested in graduates with
plenty of enthusiasm, a real can do' attitude
and bags of ambition. You'll be expected to
take control of your own future, and right
from the start you could be a key member of
a project or contract management team.
Most of our opportunities are for graduates
(with at least a 2:2) in engineering (civil,
electrical, mechanical, building services),
construction-related disciplines and quantity
surveying/commercial management. We also
recruit graduates in to management and
business support roles. In addition, with the
Company's support, graduates from a wide
range of disciplines can complete a conversion
course in quantity surveying/commercial
management or construction management.
Graduates get involved with a variety of
aspects, including design, project/contract
management, asset management, commercial
management, winning work through
proposals and tenders, procurement of
suppliers and sub-contractors, managing
facilities and services for clients. And while
the technical challenges are obviously
important, you should also be looking to
develop management skills that your future
teams can't fail to notice.
Training and development
Our graduate development schemes give you
the ideal foundation for your career,
combining courses, seminars and varied,
practical on-the-job experience with the
opportunity to achieve a professional
qualification with one of the major
engineering institutions (ICE, IMechE, IET,
CIBSE), CIOB, RICS or ICES and are
structured in line with the institutions'
guidelines. Secondments and attachments
may also feature in your development and
experienced managers are there to offer
advice and guidance on how to make the
most of the opportunities available to you.
