We've over 150 years of expertise and experience at being a building society, looking after the interests of our members. And we intend to deliver great value to our members as a modern, mutual building society for many years to come.

People are the key to success in our business. The significant investment we make in our training and development programme is testimony to this.

Our Graduate Programme

Our Nationwide Management Development Programme (NMDP) gives you the choice of a Generalist or Specialist option, both of which typically comprise of three eightmonth placements, which could be anywhere around the country.

The Generalist Programme gives you experience of different areas of our business including a retail-based position, a role that develops your management and people skills, and an area using your project management/ consultancy skills.

The Specialist Programme offers you the choice of the following:
Finance & Audit
Human Resources
Treasury
Commercial
Retail Branch Network
Risk Management
Product Management
Central Retail
Change Management
Information Security & Business Continuity

You'll spend two/three of your placements in your chosen area, and one in another part of the business.

Training & Development

Training is provided through a blend of group learning, on-the-job initiatives, coaching and skills training which include leadership, project management and relationship skills. We also have an excellent mentoring approach, linked to regular discussion, feedback and appraisal from your manager to ensure your personal and professional development stays on track. And your ‘Buddy' (a previous graduate) will be there for more informal advice. Where appropriate, you'll have the opportunity to study for professional qualifications.

The Benefits

As well as a competitive starting salary, you'll also be entitled to join a pension scheme, 24 days' holiday, an annual bonus, subsidised healthcare, incentives and preferential rates on loans.

Our Choices' flexible benefit programme enables you to select a range of benefits that fit your particular requirements from additional holiday and specific medical cover, to discounts at famous high street names.
