Employer: PA Consulting Group: Financial
Services .... .... University of Manchester
Start Date: September 2007
If you are looking for a straight forward job
where you can be sure exactly what you will be
doing from one week to the next then I would
suggest it's not worth reading any further.
If on the other hand the idea of working in
changing environments where expectation
from clients and your own colleagues is high
but the rewards can be greater then you could
do a lot worse than consider PA for your
graduate position.
I joined in September of last year with about
30 other graduates - all of us were expected to
hit the ground running during grad training by
demonstrating an ability to work in situations
that may be out of your comfort zone whilst
also providing a risk free environment to
make mistakes and get tips from guys that
have been doing this job for years. ....Read the full Editorial
Joined Cummins as: Graduate.... .... University of

Getting the job
Maggie joined Cummins as a Graduate Product
Engineer, working in the Engineering
Department of the Cummins Power Generation
Plant in Stamford. "I was impressed
with the comprehensive Cummins graduate
scheme. It not only offers the opportunity
to work in engineering, but also provides
invaluable experience by rotating in different
departments so graduates get to see how a
global business works as a whole."
What she does now
Maggie gets involved in different engineering
projects which require liaising with

My employer gives graduates the opportunity

Collecting glacier water
I worked in Iceland for four months on a threeweeks-
on, one-week-off basis. The project
involved digging a 50km long, 9m diameter
tunnel for a hydroelectric power plant. We
also built a dam and created a reservoir to
collect glacier water for the tunnel. I had a
hands-on role supervising the finishing works
to ensure the walls were thick enough and
would not collapse. I have also worked on
a wastewater project in Brighton, tunnels at
Heathrow and the design stage of the Thames
Tideway scheme. ....Read the full Editorial

Fiona Lamont
Field Operations Executive
Sales Graduate.... .... BSc Hons at Lancaster
University. I knew I wanted to take on a
Marketing and Sales role within FMCG as I
felt the dynamic, competitive and aggressive
nature of the industry could offer me a
challenging and exciting career.
Through visiting career fairs, websites
and employment publications, I gained an
understanding of which opportunities were
open to me. The Nestle Sales graduate scheme
stood out from the rest. Not only tailored to my
individual needs, it also offered continuous
support in my career development. I felt that
I'd benefit greatly from a scheme offering
experience in a number of roles. Theirs
consisted of three different placements: one
in Field Sales, one in a Head Office-based
Sales role, and the third, either another Sales
role or a role in Customer Marketing.
I began my life with Nestle Rowntree in
Sheffield, as a Business Development
