Law

The Legal Sector is another popular career choice with current graduates and, though a Law degree will ensure you start in a more prominent position, is not essential. A typical starting out position for a non-law graduate is a Barrister's Clerk, ensuring the smooth running of business and administration within the barrister's chambers. Typical starting salary is £12,000. It is also possible to go into the Barrister profession without a Law degree, though a law conversion course would need to be undertaken. Starting Salaries for self-employed Barristers range from £25,000 - £150,000 within 5 years of call. Non-Commercial solicitors earn an average starting salary of £15,000 to £25,000 and commercial solicitors can expect no less than £15,000 and possibly a lot more depending on firm and location.

As well as judicial graduate careers, there are a number of law enforcement and other legal careers available;

  • Health and Safety Inspectors
  • Customs and Immigration
  • Emergency Planning/Management Officer
  • Conveyancing
  • etc..
