Becoming a Master of the Arts...

Hello!

Wow. As a completely new 'blogger', I'm actually quite nervous about writing my first ever post.

I guess I should start with the nitty gritty; I'm Alice and I graduated in summer 2008 with a 2.1 in English Literature BA. Instead of joining the big, bad, credit-crunching world, I decided to prolong my student experience and enrolled on a one-year MA course. This was probably the best decision I have ever made.

I'm not going to lie, the better part of my early undergrad experience was spent either down the pub, or sitting on the sofa watching re-runs of 'America's Next Top Model'. While both these activities are extremely rewarding and enjoyable, this meant that my final year was spent in a horrible panic at the library as I struggled to make up for my previous laziness. Subsequently, as graduation day loomed I realised that I

a) did not really know what I was going to do now.

b) did not want to stop studying when I had just begun to really enjoy it.

So, I took the risk and decided to become A POST-GRAD. I am now halfway through my masters course and have loved every minute of it. The atmosphere is completely different to my previous university experience and I feel like I have really benefitted from a more mature teaching level.

However, graduation day is looming once more! This time round, I really need to try and pick up a career somewhere along the way. I am getting a bit sick of the student lifestyle... Kind of.

So that's me! I will keep you updated with my attempts at job hunting whilst also trying to write three 4,000 word essays over the Easter period. And then a dissertation. Oh dear...

xxx
